The garden's look
Coolness in the middle of the city
The Molokan Garden is small, but it is a true Baku garden: the shade of old plane trees, the murmur of a fountain and rows of benches where someone is always resting. It is cool here even on the hottest day.
The heart of the garden is a fountain with a bronze sculpture and jets of water. Around it run paved alleys, flower beds and green islands, with old Baku houses along the perimeter.
This place is made for slowness: to sit in the shade, listen to the water, watch the passers-by — the classic ritual of a Baku garden.
The fountain
The main fountain with its jets of water is the cool heart of the garden and a favourite meeting point.
The sculpture
At the centre of the fountain stands a bronze sculptural group that gives the garden its recognisable look.
Plane trees
Old plane trees give dense shade — no Baku garden is conceivable without them.
Alleys and flower beds
Paved paths, flower beds and green islands form a cosy maze for strolling.
Benches
Rows of benches are a place for conversation, reading and watching the life of the city.
Old houses
Around the perimeter the garden is framed by old Baku buildings that create a special, intimate atmosphere.
GreeneryA green island
The garden as a breather
In the middle of dense central Baku the Molokan Garden works as a green breather: a step off the noisy street and you are in the shade of trees, by the water, in quiet.
After the renewal there is more greenery and light, but the garden has kept its unhurried, homely character.
